First Impression - Rimmel Stay Matte Foundation

Hey everyone! Today's post is a review on the Rimmel Stay Matte foundation. I got a tip from my sweet mother that someone recommended this foundation, so I decided to give it a try and review it for you all! This product has been out for a while now, and I'm not sure why I waited so long to pick it up. It is a very inexpensive foundation that claims it will keep me matte... I mean, come on. Right up my alley. So, let's get right into the review.

First thing I noticed was the packaging. It's cute, and nothing less than I would expect from Rimmel. The tube is sort of small though. So at first I was wondering how many uses I would get from it, just judging by the size. I used my Covergirl Outlast foundation to find a color match. The closest one I found was "103 True Ivory."

Here is what the tube looks like. Nothing special, haha. Just a normal tube. But what comes out is verrrryyyy interesting...

This foundation is VERY thick. It is a whipped or mousse type foundation. On an un-related note, can someone please hand me a bottle of lotion? Stat? My hands look like they have scales. Let's not focus on that, hahaha.

Again, it has a thick consistency that almost reminds me of icing.

Here is one side of my face done. The coverage is AMAZING. And you only need a tiny amount! I shouldn't have judged how small the tube was. I will get A LOT of use out of this stuff! And the color is perfect!

Here is my whole face with the foundation on. It covers like a dream. I would say it's medium to full coverage. With it being such a thick consistency, it does have the ability to look cakey if you apply too much. But it really is beautiful. It doesn't feel heavy on the skin at all, and it blends out smoothly. It doesn't have a completely matte finish though. I would say more of a satin finish. But I'm okay with that :)

Here is a close up of one side of my face.

And the other side, but this time with flash photography.

I remembered to take a picture of the time! That was this morning.

Here is the rest of my face finished. My powder, bronzer and blush all blended out smoothly over this foundation. It didn't move at all. And again, it looks amazing! So, that was this morning...

And here it is this evening at 5:30pm. I forgot to take a picture of the time... It held up pretty well! It didn't leave me as matte as my Covergirl foundation usually does. But I am so oily, that I'm used to being a little shiny by the end of the day. I did find that it rubbed off around my nose a bit. I tend to touch around my nose a lot, so it's not surprising. I did want to mention that though so you all would know that it isn't one of those foundations that won't move until you wash it off. Once I started getting shiny is when I noticed it breaking up around my nose. Other than that, I found that it stayed in place very well!

Here is an up-close shot of one side of my face.

Here is the other side, but with flash photography. You can see in this picture where it rubbed off around my nose.

And here it is from the front.

So, overall, I really like this product! It goes on smoothly, and for the most part, it stays in place. The only things I'm not crazy about are 1. how it rubbed off around my nose, and 2. that I got shiny. Other than that, I like it a lot! I really enjoyed the consistency. I've never tried a thick, whipped foundation before, so that was neat. All-in-all, I'll give it a B+. I definitely recommend giving it a try! Have you all tried this product? Let me know what you think!

Thank you all soooooo much for reading, and I'll see you soon!

Orange Crush

Hey everyone! Today's blog post is finally a makeup tutorial! I am still obsessed with the Stila In the Know palette. So, I'm doing another tutorial using that palette for you all. I wanted to do another tutorial using orange. I know that color can be quite scary to wear for some people, but it really is a beautiful color for the eyes. People with any eye color can wear orange, and it will look amazing and just make your eyes pop.

Also, I wanted to address the different background and lighting. My sister has moved in with Alex and I for five weeks while she has a clinical. I wanted her to have the guest room/makeup room all to herself without me barging in every time I needed to do my makeup. So, I moved my vanity into Alex's man room, haha. I have the same lighting set up as I did in the other room, but because the wall color is so much darker in his man room, it makes my lighting look way different. So, that explains that, haha.

Anyway, with no further ado, let's get into the tutorial. All tips will be listed in the captions below each picture. Enjoy!

I was upset about having a few breakouts, haha.

I primed my face using the Benefit POREfessional. Loooove this primer. Here in the past couple weeks, I've went back to just using this primer, and I still really like it.

For foundation I used the Covergirl Outlast in the color "842."

Foundation is done.

Moving on to the eyes, I used the Lorac Behind the Scenes eye primer to make sure that eyeshadow stayed put.

I first used "Wind" from the Stila In the Know palette, and applied that color all over the lid to create an even-toned base.

Next, with a big fluffy blending brush, I went into "Driftwood" (sorry, you can barely see the name), and blended that right into the crease.

Like so. I just built up that color until I got the desired saturation of color.

Now for the orange! I know it looks like a scary orange, but it's sooooo pretty on the lids! I just applied "Fire" to the lids from the lash line to the crease.

Like so.

And just like the brown shade, I built up the orange until I got the desired color I wanted.

This is what you should have so far.

Then I went back into the "Driftwood" and blended out where the orange and brown meet in the crease.

Like so.

And this is what you should have now.

For liner, I created a sharp wing using the L'Oreal liquid liner in "Earthen Rock Brown."

Like so.

For concealer I used the NYX HD concealer in the color "Light/Pale."

I applied it to my under-eyes like so.

Concealer is blended.

I set that concealer using the MAC Prep + Prime setting powder.

To set the rest of the face I used the Coty Airspun Loose Face Powder. In. Love. This stuff sets your face like a dream. If you haven't seen it already, I did do a blog post just about this product. It's amazing.

Face is set! And, just so you all know, I do not do any sort of Photoshopping to my pictures. I don't even own Photoshop or any other photo editing software, and wouldn't know how to work it if I did, haha. I'm just telling you all that so you can see how freakin' crazy amazing this powder is. It seriously makes your face look like it has no pores. And that's PERFECT for me, as my pores are realllllllyyyy big :).

For bronzer I used Benefit Hoola.

Bronzer is done.

For blush I used the Milani Baked Blush in "Luminoso."

For brows I used the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in "Medium Ash."

Almost there...

I then set them with Benefit Gimmie Brow in the lighter color.

And brows are finished!

Going back to the eyes, I used "Rain" along the outer third of the lower lash line.

Like so.

Then I went back into "Fire" and blended that out along the rest of the lower lash line.

Like so.

Blend, Blend, Blend is the key to smoking out your lower lash line.

I used "Air" to highlight underneath my brows and the inner corners of the eye.

For mascara I used the Jordana Best Lash Extreme.

For lips I used Rimmel London Moisture Renew lipstick in "642 Nude Delight."

Love that color, but it looked a little dull...

So I added the NYX Butter Gloss in "Apple Strudel" on top.

And here's the final look!

And there you have it! An all orange look! Don't ever be afraid of using color. If you don't feel comfortable wearing it out, try wearing it around the house a time or two. You can get more confident with it, and hopefully you'll wear it out in public! Rock that color, girl! Thank you all soooo much for reading! I will see you soon!!
